In conjunction with the exhibition Art of the African Diaspora: Perspectives from the East Side, this storytelling workshop is organized in partnership with Geographer, Dr. Kaily Heitz.
Join us to share your memories and perspectives of East Oakland.
What: This storytelling workshop is part of a community archiving and research project reflecting on community histories, experiences, and hopes for the places of East Oakland. Tell your stories about the Eastmont Mall, your favorite taco spot, San Antonio Park, or other everyday spaces that are important to you. Bring a journal, something to write with, and your voice! This workshop is free.
Who: Any age, ability, or experience level; preferably Oaklanders who identify as Black, Indigenous, or as a person of color. Workshop instruction will be in English, but all languages are welcome for storytelling and writing practice.
