Megaprojects of Death: Lithium Mining and Indigenous Resistance

Date: Saturday, January 18

Time: 6:00 - 8:30 pm

Location: Eastside Arts Alliance, 2277 International Blvd, Oakland 94606

The Center for Interdisciplinary Environmental Justice (CIEJ) presents two short films about Indigenous resistance to lithium mining in Argentina and Nevada (USA) in the name of

greenwashing eco-capitalism and false climate solutions. Mining for minerals and metals to produce technologies, such as electric car batteries, is part of the global megaprojects of

death that continues to displace Indigenous communities and destroy land, water and life. Following both short films, representatives from both regions will present their current struggles.
