YOUTH TOURS for "Style Messengers" Exhibition.
On Thursday, March 13th, EastSide will be opening its doors from 12-5pm for self guided youth tours to check out this exhibit which will only be displayed this month.
This is an invitation for young people to witness the teachings and role that Graffiti has had from the Bay to New York over the last 30 years as a form of resistance. Young writers formed a movement that continues to uplift the transformative power of art and language in both resisting the structures that feel out of their control and while building their own worlds of belonging.
Come and check out the archives of 3 Graffiti artists from Oakland, Frisco, and New York who were mentored and inspired by revolutionary leaders like Greg Morozumi, Yuri Kochiyama, Malcolm X, and Amiri Baraka. Learn about how this sophisticated art form unapologetically speaks against police violence, immigrant rights, racism, sexism and other oppressive systems that circulate in our communities.
